Airbnb Cleaning Fee Calculator

Work out what a turnover really costs and what cleaning fee covers it.

Loading the tool…

Cleaning is the cost that repeats with every booking. Price the fee too low and each short stay quietly loses money. Price it too high and guests choose the listing next door. This calculator shows the real cost of a turnover and the fee that covers it.

What a Turnover Costs

A turnover is the cleaner’s time plus laundry, consumables such as soap, coffee and paper goods, and any travel. The calculator adds these up and suggests a fee rounded up to the next $5.

Worked Example

At $20 an hour for 2.5 hours, plus $15 of laundry and $10 of consumables, a turnover costs $75. With 3-night stays, that is $25 per booked night. An $85 fee covers it with $10 to spare, and equals about 17% of a typical stay’s room price. A slower 3.5-hour clean costs about $95.

Ways to Lower Cleaning Cost per Night

  • Set a minimum stay of two or three nights to reduce turnovers.
  • Standardize the setup with a checklist so each clean takes the same time.
  • Keep two sets of linens per bed so laundry doesn’t hold up the next guest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should the Cleaning Fee Cover 100% of the Cost?
Not necessarily. Guests compare total prices, so some hosts charge less and build the rest into the nightly rate. Set the share you want to recover.
How Does Stay Length Change the Cost?
Longer stays mean fewer turnovers per month, so cleaning costs less per booked night.
What Should I Pay a Cleaner?
Local rates vary. Ask several cleaners for a per-turnover price for your unit size, and enter that as pay and hours.
What About Laundry?
Count it per turnover, whether you pay a service or do it yourself.
